Larvikite – a stone from Norway
Larvikite is a unique natural stone found mainly in the Larvik region of Norway, which gave the stone its name. It was formed deep beneath the Earth’s surface around 300 million years ago.
Its dark grey to black surface comes alive in the light, revealing beautiful blue, silver and sometimes steel-grey flashes. Feldspar crystals within the stone reflect the light and create this beautiful shimmering effect.
For example Larvikite is sometimes cold as “Norwegian Moonstone” or “Black Labradorite”, although geologically it is neither true moonstone nor labradorite.
Besides in crystal traditions, Larvikite is associated with grounding, protection and inner strength. It is also believed to support intuition, mental clarity and a deeper connection with your inner knowing.
An interesting detail: Larvikite is considered Norway’s national rock and has been used in architecture and decorative stonework around the world.

Larvikite ranks around 6–6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, while Baltic amber is a much softer fossilized tree resin. Therefore, please handle your jewelry with care and remove it before cleaning, sports, swimming, or gardening to help prevent accidental damage.
Store your Larvikite and Green Amber jewelry in a soft cloth pouch or a fabric-lined jewelry box, preferably separately from harder gemstones such as diamonds and sapphires.
Larvikite is a natural feldspar-rich stone. Although relatively durable, harder materials and strong impacts may scratch or chip its surface. Keep Larvikite away from harsh chemicals and household cleaning products.
Baltic Amber is sensitive to heat, harsh chemicals, alcohol, perfumes, steam, and ultrasonic cleaners. We recommend to help preserve its natural beauty, by avoiding prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight and high temperatures.
If you clean your jewelry at home, prepare a mild soapy solution with lukewarm water, then gently place the jewelry in the solution for a few minutes. Afterwards use a soft toothbrush to remove any dirt. Rinse with clean water and carefully dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
